Apple’s iPhone 11 launched in September last year is nearly seven months old today. There are still a few months left for the Cupertino-based brand’s next-generation iPhone 12. However, renders and leaks about the upcoming smartphone have started surfacing online. Svetapple shared a leaked render giving us a glimpse at the iPhone 12 Pro while a report by 9to5Mac revealed triple rear cameras with a LiDAR scanner similar to the recently launched 2020 iPad Pro.
As per the leaked render, the iPhone 12 Pro is expected to arrive with drastic changes. Apple will reportedly ditch the notch that debuted on the iPhone X back in 2017. The iPhone 12 Pro will come with thin top bezels housing necessary components like an infrared camera, speaker, microphone, dot projector and a 12MP front-facing camera. It will also accommodate various sensors. The render reveals thick side and bottom bezels compared to the current iPhone devices.
The report by 9to5Mac states that Apple plans to rearrange the rear camera sensors to make a place for the new LiDAR scanner. The LED flash unit is moved to the centre. The LiDAR sensor will offer enhanced depth sensing and augmented reality features. The triple camera setup is expected to consist of a wide-angle lens, ultra-wide sensor and a telephoto shooter.
Apple is reportedly working on four variants of iPhone 12 with the lineup consisting of a 5.4-inch model, two devices with 6.1-inch displays and lastly a 6.7-inch variant. The smartphones are expected to be powered by A14 Bionic chipset paired with 6GB RAM. According to reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Pro models will feature 120Hz ProMotion OLED displays, mmWave 5G connectivity and a sensor-shifting camera stabilisation technology.
Apple’s original schedule to launch the iPhone 12 by fall could be slightly impacted due to the current coronavirus pandemic. The brand is expected to announce the much-awaited entry-level iPhone SE 2020 next week.
