Yes the big day has arrived. The CDMA iPhone 4 that would work on Verizon is just announced in New York and the tech world is surely going crazy gauging the implications of the Apple/Verizon deal. Verizon is undoubtedly a LTE player and the biggest carrier in US, however the iPhone 4 would run on 3G for now (with hotspot support). AT&T might have a hard time in coming months. But there is something we have been asked before and was put up to Tim Cook at todays Verizon event. Will the iPhone 4 on Verizon do Voice & Data together? The answer was clear, just as any other CDMA device, it wont!
Apple has in past advertised the iPhone capability to do Voice & Data together and its indeed a cool feature. So the lack of this makes the iPhone 4 on Verizon any lesser than the AT&T GSM version? Well in our opinion NO. Verizon is sure to provide a more robust experience than AT&T and there are millions on Verizon who use a full touchscreen waiting for the iPhone to arrive. For them its nothing new, they are used to this. The users switching from AT&T to Verizon have a choice to make and we don’t think too many of them would see this as a major factor. However the real game would begin in June / July, where we expect the next iPhone to be LTE enabled.
