Now this is an interesting bit of news. Apparently an iPhone self combusted aboard a flight in Australia, though it did not harm any of the passengers or crew on the flight.
The incident happened in Sydney, Australia on a Regional Express flight ZL319 this Friday. As soon as the flight landed, one of the passenger’s iPhone started to emit a significant amount of dense smoke and a red glow. A flight attendant immediately extinguished the device and none of the passengers or the crew was injured in the freak mishap.
As per the image released by the Regional Express airlines, the phone appears to be an iPhone 4. The device has been subsequently handed to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau for investigation into the matter.
Well, this is certainly a one off case but nonetheless it will be very interesting to know as to what caused the smartphone to misbehave in such a self destructive manner. There was no official statement released from Apple on the matter.
