One of the most buzzing tech talks of the month has been the arrival of iPhone 4S in India. Apple took its own sweet little time to get the iPhone 4 to India and faced a lot of backlash in the media, this time it is just over a month of International release and India is about to get the 4S, that sure raises a lot of hopes. But then, there have been concerns. We earlier reported that iPhone 4S wasn’t working for many in India due to some network glitch (it was ultimately resolved from the carrier side) and that has been followed by reports of exorbitant pricing of the 4S. One of our sources also confirmed that the iPhone 4S would begin at Rs 44,000 in India.
The pricing isn’t all, the most distinctive and key feature on the iPhone 4S is its voice assistant Siri and the same didn’t work with Indian accent when we last checked it. While many have debated compatibility of Siri with Indian accent, most people who own a 4S have claimed that it doesn’t work for them. One of our regular tipsters got some interesting bit from Airtel while pre-ordering the iPhone 4S. Apparently Airtel support confirmed to him that Siri in India would come with an Indian accent fix! And we believe that this might well happen, given the fact that iOS 5.0.1 did have a Australian update for Siri. If this is true, iOS 5.0.2 is coming this week and would have the magical update to Siri!
Update: We called up the Airtel helpling for iPhone and got the SAME confirmation that Siri would support Indian accent when it launches on 25th November!
