Apple applies for new patent: Movement gestures

We all know that Apple has not been doing much with that accelerometer inside the iPhone. Though the shift from landscape to portrait with a tilt is good and even fun while playing games, Apple realized that the accelerometer could be put to other uses too.

Now with this new patent for movement gestures (movement-based interfaces for personal media devices) is Apple going to add other control to future devices? Only time will tell. But it would be fun to have shake-control in iPhone to change music, flip through pages, motion games and what not.

While Sony Ericsson already does use the accelerometer for movement gestures, this patent could also build up some heat between Apple and Sony.
