An interesting bit of news that we are just hearing claims that Apple has been considering the AMOLED displays for the iPhone every since the 3GS was planned. Infact we even heard rumors of the iPad coming with an AMOLED display. As it seems Apple decided going against the AMOLED displays by Samsung (Samsung Mobile Display) due to supply concerns. Apparently even Verizon is having trouble serving the Droid Incredible as HTC is bearing the burnt of low supply of AMOLED displays from Samsung.
The calculations claim that even if Apple managed to take the entire AMOLED production by Samsung, it would barely fill 50% of its requirement of the nextgen iPhone4G / HD. With crazy rumors and leaks of iPhone 4G going around, its hard to predict what would come out on June 7th @ WWDC. But it seems certain that Apple isn’t going with AMOLED and instead fit in the IPS displays that it had on the iPad (saves cost and more importantly meets the iPhone demand).
