Sharp ties up with Apple to Produce Thinner Displays for iPhone 6?

The white iPhone 4 was recently released and rumours about iPhone 5 are heavily on a roll but that doesn’t prevent the rumour mill from popping up with rumours about the prototype iPhone 6.

iPhone 6 Rumours already flying

According to Japanese newspaper Nikkan, Sharp has tied up with Apple to make the next gen, low-temperature polycrystalline-silicon (p-Si) LCD display for iPhone6 which will be thinner and lighter than the screens used in previous iPhones. These p-Si LCD displays are thinner, lighter and consume less power unlike the traditional LCD display screens. Thus enabling the iPhone 6 to have a thinner and lighter display (comparing to the iPhone 4) and also offer better durability, higher aperture ratios and few connection pins.

Apple’s implementation of the Retina display technology, (iPhone 4) which provided crisp images and a bright and better contrast. Apple has not taken a step backwards to experiment with substitutes for iPhone 6, which is scheduled to start production by end Q3 of 2012.

So do we expect a reduction in size and weight of the handset? Well that would be anyone’s guess. But nothing can be said as of now, especially when Apple can change its mind any minute and change its plans/designs.
