Well this one is a rumor over the rumors. As per reports from The Korea Times, LG is working on displays for the 4” iPhone 5 and the 7.85” iPad Mini.
We had earlier reported about rumors suggesting that Apple might be working on a cheaper and smaller version of the iPad to counter Amazon’s $199 tablet offering, i.e. the Kindle Fire. Well this rumor from the Korea Times seems to be supporting the belief, though it’s interesting to note the size of the display which is being claimed to be around 7.85”. Dubbed as the iPad Mini, it’s tipped to be launched by Apple early next year.
The other raging rumor, being the size of the display screen on the iPhone 5, which many experts and analysts suggest to be around 4”. And again the rumor from the Korea Times suggests that LG is indeed working on a 4″ Retina display for the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 is also expected to be out this summer.
LG display CEO Young Soo Kwon had already confirmed to the reporters, albeit mistakenly that LG was indeed working on Retina display for the new iPad. Well, in case the news is true we expect that LG at least this time wouldn’t have problems manufacturing the display for the iPad like last year.
