Facebook And Others Hacked On 'Zero Day'

And yet another bad news in the world of security and IT. This time the social networking giant, Facebook, gets hit by an unidentified group of hackers. Facebook broke the news that on Friday, a group of hackers broke into the systems of the people working behind the scenes of the website.

Facebook hacked

All the employees were slashed by these hackers on what is called as a Zero Day. A zero day means exploiting the previous loopholes in the programs, which still haven’t been worked upon. All those employees working at Facebook who installed a small Java program were scrutinized. The purpose of this act is still unidentified.

Thankfully, no user data was hacked, so the users of the website need not worry as of now. Meanwhile, the social networking site is working on those loop-holes and trying to fix them. Also, Oracle was made aware of the attack and asked to work upon their product, Java. Further, Facebook  claimed that it was not the only company that has been attacked by the hackers over the past one month. Few months back, the U.S. Homeland Security and FBI asked all the citizens of the state to disable all Java plugins as another notorious group of hackers was asking the users to install a plugin which was leaking all the Credit Card details to them. While FBI denied to comment, the Homeland Security reported that these attacks seemed to be originating from China.

So guys! Enjoy the internet, but safely. Do not install any plugin or software which is not trusted. Be smart!
