Is This The Beginning Of 28nm Process For Apple Processors?

Last year Apple silently updated the internals of Apple TV when speculations were high of some major changes, especially with the processor user in Apple TV but finally it was found that Apple just reiterated the version of the same A5 processor and made it smaller. Back in January this year Apple made an update with the processor inside Apple TV and surprisingly it isn’t A5X just yet. Apple made the A5 processor even smaller this time according to MacRumours. The change was noticed when the software of Apple TV revealed the version of Apple TV as “AppleTV3,2”.

Apple has been rumoured to go with a 28nm manufacturing for the rumoured Qualcomm processor that is to be sported in the low cost iPhone again rumoured to release this summer. The new processor found in the hobby product, Apple TV, might be the first test with the 28nm processor manufacturing.

The size of the initial version of Apple A5 processor manufactured on 45nm process was 10.09mm by 12.15mm and when Apple made it smaller last year it shrunk the die by almost 41% and made it 8.19mm by 8.68mm but the current version of A5 processor is almost 70% smaller to the first version with a dimension of just 6mm by 6mm. We hope to hear some positive news about the new 28nm process from Apple soon.
