Honor 9i Flagship Killer Arrives with Quad Cameras, 18:9 FHD+ Display

On Thursday, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor held a launch event in Goa to unveil the Honor 9i smartphone. Huawei has already released this phone as Maimang 6 in China and Nova 2i in Malaysia in the recent weeks. It is an upper-midrange smartphone that is packed with features like four cameras and an impressive 18:9 display that are not available on popular flagships like Nokia 8 and OnePlus 5.

Design and Display

The Honor 9i has a metal unibody chassis that measures 156.2 x 75.2 x 7.5mm and weighs 164 grams. It will be available in color choices like Aurora Blue, Prestige Gold and Graphite Black.
It is fitted with a 5.9-inch FullView LCD display that is covered by 2.5D curved glass offers an aspect ratio of 18:9. The tall display of the phone delivers a full HD+ resolution of 2,060 x 1,080 pixels. It produces a remarkable screen-to-body ratio of 83 percent.

Quad Cameras and Performance

Undoubtedly, the quad cameras are the USP of the Honor 9i. The front side features dual selfie sensors of 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel that are coupled with soft LED flash. The rear side of the Honor 9i has a dual-tone LED flash enabled dual camera setup that includes a 16-megapixel sensor and a 2-megapixel sensor. The front and rear cameras offer various kinds of photography features such as bokeh shots, panorama, time lapse, slow motion video shooting and more.

Huawei’s inhouse Kirin 659 chipset is present under the hood of the Honor 9i. The Kirin 659 is an enhanced version of Kirin 658 that powers other Huawei phones like P10 Lite and Nova Youth. The Honor 9i features 4 GB of RAM and has an internal storage of 64 GB. For additional storage, it also includes a microSD card slot and it is equipped with a 3,340 mAh battery.

Software and Other Features

The Honor 9i is preloaded with Android 7.0 Nougat OS that is skinned with Emotion UI 5.0. The rear side of the phone is flanked with a fingerprint reader and it is packed with connectivity features like hybrid SIM slot for dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, v4.2 Bluetooth, NFC, microUSB and GPS.

Pricing and Availability

The Honor 9i is exclusively available on Flipkart. It is priced at Rs. 19,999, but the retailer is selling it with a discount price tag of 17,999. The retailer will begin the sales of the Honor 9i starting from 14th October. It is also offering various offers for buyers such as no cost EMIs, 10 percent cashback for Axis Bank credit and debit card users, and 20 percent discount for PhonePe users.
