Apple investigating battery drain due to OS 3.1

Tones of iPhone 3GS users are complaining about poor battery life, and many of you have also discussed the same at iPhone Help. Many solutions including switching off WiFi and downgrading the firmware has been suggested. And Apple now seems to be taking this issue seriously and is investigating the cause.

Apple help desk seem to be contacting many iPhone users and trying to gaze the depth of the problem. A set of 11 questions focusing on battery performance seems to be thrown at these users. The firmware 3.1 brought several new functionalities to the iPhone including Genius for apps and App management via iTunes 9.

Apple is also offering for download an unsigned battery life logger, which will collect information about your phone’s battery life. The logger syncs the data with iTunes to send it to Apple for investigation. [macworld].
