Apple iPhone 4 vs Samsung Wave S8500 (Preview)

Samsung Wave S8500 is the first handset with the BADA OS and it will take on the many Android based smartphones along with the iPhone 4 that comes up in 2 weeks. The iPhone 4 and Wave share a similar 1 GHz processor and a 5MP camera with 720p HD recording each. However the major difference comes in the display resolution / type and software. You shall have the regular restrictions of no memory card, no bluetooth file transfer, no USB mass storage etc on the iPhone, but the App Store and iOS 4 try to make up for it. One notable feature that Samsung Wave lacks is the ambient light sensor, which adjusts the brightness automatically. However the Wave brings in FM (with recording option) and DivX/XviD support right out of the box. On the other hand the iPhone 4 innovates with its antenna system, gyro axis, glass styling etc and also

Samsung played a move when it announced its Bada OS and this sounded as a me too in the app store race that the iPhone apps success story kicked off. And of all that we hoped from Samsung, they delivered just average. The Bada OS could have potentially given Samsung the strength to fight off Symbian OS powered Nokias in the sub $200 category. The Corby and Star series did well in all departments, except the OS – and thats where Nokia steals the show in that segment. Comparing the Samsung Wave S8500 with the iPhone 4 can only be a hardware thing, but unfortunately the software isn’t comparable.
