Tight control over creatives drives away Adidas from iAD, $10 million deal falls apart!

iAd has been in controversy ever since it launched. Firstly Google tweaked terms to ensure that competition cannot keep up with iAd and then the predictions of iAds failure started to come up. Now it seems that one large deal between Adidas and Apple for iAd has fell apart and the news is being used to highlight how iAD is struggling.

According to reports Adidas lost its patience with iAd after their creative was rejected 3 times by Apple.

“In addition to Apple’s unusual control over the ad creation process, advertisers complain about the lack of control over visibility into where their ads appear, lack of third-party ad serving tools, and other issues,” the report said. “Apple plans to open up the process once its’ more comfortable with the program, but it appears some advertisers have lost their patience.” – Apple Insider

Something worth making note here is the fact that Apple and Nike share a great relationship and Adidas and Apple not getting along too well doesn’t look out of place to me. But then you never know what really happened in there 🙂
