USB 3.0 not coming to Macs anytime soon, Lightpeak? [Video]

Steve Jobs seems to have replied to an email query about USB 3.0 on Apple products and the reply is not much of a surprise to us. Jobs replied pointing out the lack of traction with USB 3.0.

We don’t see USB 3 taking off at this time. No support from Intel, for example.

The mention of Intel support is a point we had raised with Dr Bhatt (co-inventor of the USB and Intel fellow) and he confirmed that Intel supports USB 3.0 and they are one of the primary contributors to the technology (video below). We wonder whats really cooking with USB 3.0, but its sure a future thing for Apple and others. Also wonder if Apple is looking to push Lightpeak (though a future technology) and wonder if they would bring that early on to compete USB 3.0?
