iPad 2 3G Supply Constrained Ahead Of iPad 3 Launch [Report]

According to a report from 9to5Mac, Apple has constrained the supply of iPad 2 3G model ahead of iPad 3 launch in March. AllThingsD sources have already claimed that an event is set to happen in the first week of March at San Francisco. It is also rumored that Apple would cut off the production of iPad 2 3G. Thereby making, iPad 3 universal with both CDMA+GSM facilities.

Right now, two models of iPad 2 are available in US market. One is GSM from AT&T and another one is CDMA from Verizon. If Apple merges both functionalities into one iPad like they have done with the iPhone 4S, it would again make things a lot more simpler which defines the essence of the company. At major stores, iPad 2 3G have already gone out of stock.

Whereas, in places such as United Kingdom, Carphone Warehouse is reporting shortage of five out of six iPad 2 3G. On the other hand, Orange UK says that their iPad 2 3G SKUs have been reduced to half which includes both iPad 2 32GB and white 64GB models. It seems that Apple would cease the supply of iPad 2 3G in near future. Only iPad 3G would be sold at discounted rates once iPad 3 hits the shelves of Apple Stores.
