Apple’s next gen iPhone OS4.0 which is due to be released this summer will come with so many new features (more than 100) for iPhone/iTouch/iPad.
We’ve collected some of the primary features(but 90% of’em are already available on cydia) that you will see in OS 4.0 which are:
- Multitasking: Yeah you heard right finally Apple agreed and they’ve added the third party apps to support multitasking. But the sad news is that Multitasking will only work with iPhone 3GS, iPad and iTouch 2nd Gen n later. iPhone 2G, 3G and iTouch users will definitely miss it but anyways they can use cydia’s Backgrounder, Multiflow to achieve this 😀
- Unified Mail: Now you don’t have switch between different email accounts, All your different accounts mail will show in one inbox you can say it Unified Inbox. Suppose you’ve gmail, yahoo and MS-Exchange account, once configured, you will see all your mails in one Inbox only.You can also have multiple Exchange accounts, which is already in cydia works with OS 3.x.x :D.
- iBooks: When Apple showcased iPad, we thought that iBooks will be only limited to iPad only, but its not like that. They’ve added this in iPhone and iTouch as well. You can also sync your ebooks wirelessly.
- Folders: This is sames as ‘Categories’ app of cydia, You can add Folders on your springboard and move apps on those folders.Basically this will keep your springboard uncluttered.
- Spotlight (web) Search: Now not only you can search your apps, contacts, mails and so on from spotlight search but you can also search on web and in wikipedia right from Spotlight search. There is already an app in cydia by name ‘Universal Search’ which serves this feature.
- iAd: Apple wanted that developers should make more money from their apps so they introduced there own advertising method called iAd, which will allow developers to add interactive advertisements with in apps. These are basically interactive advertisements with-in applications.
- Social Gaming Network: Apple’s app store is flooded with some really cool games now you can also share your achievements, play with your friends and so on.
- Other cool features: OS 4.0 will also include dozens of other feature additions such as File & delete Mail search results, 5x digital zoom, Web search suggestions, Choose image size in Mail messages, Â Bluetooth keyboards (already there is an app for that in cydia) CalDav invitations, Larger fonts for Mail SMS & alerts, Spell check, Birthday calendar, Recent Web searches, Create Playlists, Â Tap to focus video for iPhone 3GS, Places in Photos, Home screen wallpaper ( You can achieve this with cydia’s BossPaper).
These were the some of the cool features that iPhone OS4.0 will have but 90% of’em are already available on cydia :D, iPhone OS 4.0 is highly inspired from cydia’s apps 😛
