iPhone 4 vs Samsung Galaxy S (Preview)

Apple started the smartphone battle in 2007 with the original iPhone. Soon full touchscreens became way of life for cellphone makers and till date the UI and multitouch charm of the iPhone remains special. Over the past one year many smartphone makers have done well to counter the iPhone 3GSs horsepower and hardware. 5 to 8 megapixel cameras with flash, OLED display and a 1GHz snapdragon processor is what the competition threw at Apple.

Now here comes the iPhone 4 that rocks the Apple A4 processor (which also powers the iPad) and the all new Retina Display that does a 960×640 resolution on the 3.5″ Apple screen. Apple seems to have also kicked a battle of words (and facts) between its Retina Display with IPS and the Super AMOLED that Samsung promoted. The Samsung Galaxy S also runs a 1GHz ARM processor and we can believe that its manages the same output as the iPhone 4, however the iPhone brings in a great App Store and now the gyroscope that takes gaming to another level.

But what might do the Galaxy S here is simply the older Android 2.1 built it is launching with. While its certain that even the Android 2.2 Froyo doesn’t match up to the iOS v4.0, the 2.1 is certainly a downer. And perhaps for the first time the iPhone brings in a extra hardware in the form of a LED Flash, which the Samsung Galaxy S misses. And if I am to comment on the design, the Samsung looks the same as the Star Superb or the Spica with rounded curves and plastic and on the other hand the iPhone 4 brings in the scratch-proof glass on the front / back with a stainless steel band. We shall have a better comparison when both these models hit the streets 🙂
