Apple iPhone X’s Successor May Launch with Cheaper Price Tag

The 64 GB and 256 GB iPhone X that are respectively available with $999 and $11,49 pricing in the U.S. is the most expensive iPhone from Apple. Luke Lin, an analyst with Digitimes Research has claimed that the successor edition of the iPhone X will be arriving with a cheaper price tag.

Lin claims compared to the iPhone X, it would be 10 percent cheaper to manufacture its successor model. It costs around $400 to build the iPhone X. So, a 10 percent reduction in the manufacturing of the iPhone X’s successor could mean it would cost around $40 less to build it which also indicates it may hit the market with a slightly reduced price.

Lin is of the view that the next-generation 5.8-inch OLED iPhone would be cheaper than the other iPhones that will be launched alongside it. He added that the Cupertino company had first considered launching the upcoming 5.8-inch iPhone with LCD display. However, it decided to cancel in the previous month.

The Cupertino company is speculated to debut three iPhones in this year. The first one would be the iPhone X’s successor featuring a 5.8-inch OLED panel. It is speculated that there will be a larger OLED iPhone featuring 6.5-inch display. The third one could be an LCD iPhone featuring a screen of 6.1 inches. All of them are expected to arrive with a notch like iPhone X featuring the TrueDepth Camera for Face ID. The OLED iPhones are expected to feature stainless steel edges whereas the LCD iPhone may arrive with aluminum frame.

Fresh information also reveals that Apple is likely to start the trial production of the new iPhones early this year. It is expected to begin in the second quarter of this year. The probable reason behind it is that it wants to avoid the problems related to low yield rates of 3D senor modules that iPhone X had encountered last year. This will allow Apple to ready sufficient number of iPhones during the pre-orders period.

The iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X sales have been reportedly lower than what the company had expected. By ramping up the production earlier this year, Apple would be reigniting the demand for 2018 iPhones.
In related news, Apple is reportedly planning to sell the iPhone X in a new “Blush Gold” color edition. Currently, the handset is available in colors like White and Space Grey. The Cupertino company is yet to confirm on the arrival of the new color variant for the iPhone X.
