Bharti Airtel has finally confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Apple Inc to sell the 3GS in India. Fans are waiting since last August to get hands on the iPhone 3GS officially, however even as the iPad goes on sale in US, there was no official news for the 3GS in India until today.
While Airtel has confirmed that iPhone would come to India for sure, but “when” still remains a big question mark. The Airtel announcement puts last weeks rumor of Reliance, Aircel, Vodafone coming with the 3GS in India to doubt. We now wonder if even Vodafone would feature the 3GS again.
For anyone looking to buy the 3GS now, the obvious question would be the iPhone 4G. Its expected to be unveiled in late June and that would leave a deep sense of regret for the late adopters of the 3GS. However I am excited about a possible discount on the iPhone 3G pricing, that would make it more affordable in India. IMO a cheaper iPhone has more potential in India than the high end 3GS (which would also sell nevertheless).
